The Lost Bagpiper
Time is like a river.
You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life.
As a Bagpiper i play at many gigs. I was recently asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service of a homeless man. He had no friends or family, so the service was to be a paupers funeral. As i was not familiar with the area, i got lost and being a man did not stop for directions.
I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had already gone and the hearse was no where in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologised for being late.
I went to the side of the grave and looked down, the lid was already on, i did not know what else to do so i started to play. The workers put down their lunch and all gathered round. I played my heart and soul out for this man with no family or friends, i played like i had never played before.
And as i played "Amazing Grace", the workers began to weep. The wept, i wept, we all wept together. When i finished, i packed up my bagpipes and started for the car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.
As i opened my door to the car, i hear one of the workers say, "i never seen nothing like that before and i have been putting in septic tanks for twenty years"
Apparently i'm still lost ....... its a man thing.

First Post in Blog
Well McDonalds Kilts of Cyprus has been open now for 5 months and so far it has been a big success - how did i get to today?
The concept was born a few years ago after serving two years at RAF Akrotiri in the Army, i fell in love with the country - or the sunshine! I said to myself that i would like to live here when i leave the army and some 25 years completed i finished the Army and the dream had been well put in to place.
As i have been a bagpiper in various band through the years this gave me a little insight in the Kilt and its accessories, and as i know Cyprus and Paphos is big for weddings then i decided that this would be the job for me as no one else had started this i seen a niche in the market.
I can see why no one else had started this, over a year making all the kit and just short of £70K to establish.
I started in December 2013 and hit the ground running with my first sale of a complete outfit - everything from shoes to waistcoat and jacket and all in between - and this was the day i first opened.
Next came at new year when a club in Larnaca called Ammos Beach Club contacted me and wanted to hire 20 kilts for his staff for new year.
I went well for new year and better for Burns Suppers with quite a few kilt hires but mainly sales of the accessories.
I also was booked to play the bagpipes at various Burns Functions and other events, even playing on the Rock FM Radio to advertise myself as open for Buisness.
So where am i Today - 18/04/14
I have played bagpipes at weddings in Protaras, Limassol and Paphos.
I have hired Kilt Outfits for 4 different weddings in Paphos, one in Larnaca and a few walk ins
I have a total of 24 More weddings so far booked for the rest of the season and 6 bagpipe events also booked with more requests and queries coming in weekly - especially through Aelos - who are agents for first choice and tompsons.
Easter weekend this weekend so taking a few days of for the family - hopefully update this again soon
